Yasmin Kumi
German-raised, Ghanian-native, Yasmin Kumi is the visionary female founder of African Foresight Group, the innovative tech platform leading the freelance revolution in Africa and disrupting the traditional professional services industry, traditionally dominated by international players. Midst her post-graduate studies at Oxford University, Kumi realized that the African consulting market is highly underserved, leaving many African businesses and investment funds without accessible affordable top talent teams to grow their companies. With the backing of angel and tech investors from Africa and Silicon Valley, AFG was founded in 2016. Kumi headed back to Ghana to set-up an office with only 3 months working capital and a dream: To elevate African people and companies into global champions.
Now the company is the largest network of freelance consultants in Africa, AFG supports small and mid-sized businesses in their multinational expansion through short- and long-term projects that are centrally managed through their proprietary tech platform, Peralta.
With more than 200 management consultants from over 20 countries who form part of the AFG network, the company has become a virtual headquarters for new ‘missions’ (work assignments) and income for highly skilled management consultants with sought-after sector expertise who are motivated by driving impact within companies in Africa. The AFG model of fully remote work across the continent is a strategic key to its success.
In 2020, Kumi co-founded African Hidden Champions with the German Investment Corporation, DEG - Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft(link is external). The initiative identifies African firms that are building capacity for global leadership in their
sector. It helps the firms on their growth journey by telling their stories, exposing them to new markets and networks, and providing technical assistance. AHC recently welcomed additional funding from the African Development Bank (AfDB).
