JoeShields is an experienced entrepreneur with more than fifteen years leadingfood and agriculture businesses. Joe co-founded and co-led Flow Equity toestablish EthioChicken and Uzima Chicken, together the largestsmallholder-focused poultry platform in Africa.

FlowEquity has over 2,500 employees, serves nearly 10,000 distributors, and won theFinancial Times Boldness in Business Award for Small Companies. The groupdistributes more than 30 million chickens to more than 5 million smallholdersannually in Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, and Ghana.

Prior to founding Flow Equity, Joe worked forMcKinsey & Co. and the Jameel-Poverty Action Lab.
