Will Hetzler

Will Hetzler is an entrepreneur and experienced executive. He joined the Bouldering Project as Chief Growth Officer in September 2021.

Before the Bouldering Project, Will cofounded Zipline, a California-based multinational automated logistics company. Zipline was founded on a mission to provide every human on Earth with instant access to vital supplies, and the company now operates the fastest, most reliable autonomous drone delivery service in the world.

At Zipline, Will served in several executive roles, including COO and SVP US Business Development, and his responsibilities spanned global operations, government and regulatory affairs, sales and business development, global supply chain, and manufacturing. He lived in Africa for over three years where he led the company’s work in the region, and established Zipline's launch partnership with the Government of Rwanda. After moving back to the States, he led Zipline’s entry into the US market.

Will began his career as a consultant with Oliver Wyman, where he focused on the aviation industry. A Harvard-trained economist, Will graduated with Honors. While an undergrad, he cofounded and ran the Harvard Bouldering Wall, a privately financed, student-run rock climbing gym on campus.

There continues to be a significant gap across the African continent with regards to increasing access to high quality and affordable healthcare. Brick and mortar healthcare solutions continue to play a major role in improving access to care, accelerated by the push toward Universal Healthcare Coverage. Technology has demonstrated the ability to strengthen health systems, leveraging existing platforms to increase access. These innovative strategies such as digital health are needed to ensure long term success in the continent. However, their successful deployment on a wider scale faces several challenges on the continent. We will be discussing the opportunities, the risks and myths associated with digital health transformation and the successes achieved to-date.
