Luke Mostert

Luke Mostert is a South African Venture Capitalist, breaking into the industry as a 22 year old at GreenHouse Capital in Lagos, Nigeria. Post GreenHouse, he joined the Investment Team at 4Di Capital in South Africa, where he learnt under some of the continent’s first venture capitalists. In 2022, Luke joined Future Africa, as the Fund’s Head of Investments, where he has led 15 new investments to date, built out their investment process, and further cultivated their global co-investor community. Luke is also highly active in the African ecosystem, having co-founded Young African Catalysts – a first of its kind venture ecosystem investing in the future catalysts of Africa, with over 50 leading African VC funds represented. He also works in an advisory and mentorship capacity with various regional and global startup accelerators, such as Injini and Techstars Toronto. Outside of VC, Luke has a distinct passion for education equity, having founded the Litoro Foundation in 2015 – an educational nonprofit that continues to fully fund the high school educations of over 20 underprivileged scholars every year. He holds a BA in Political Science from UCLA, where he graduated as one of ten distinguished graduates in his class.

New Venture Competition

As part of the conference, the Africa Business Club will be hosting the New Venture Competition which seeks to showcase the diversity of entrepreneurs making a difference on the continent today.

From the pool of over 380 applications, 10 finalists were  invited to pitch their business in front of over 1,000 attendees and receive feedback from a panel of experienced judges. The competition winner and runner-up, and third place will be awarded cash prizes of $30,000, 15,000, and $10,000, respectively.
